A highly sought-after position on the USA Volleyball Boys U19 National Team roster for the 2025 NORCECA U19 Pan American Cup has been earned by Peter Chriss, an incoming freshman for the Penn State Nittany Lions men’s volleyball team. Chriss’s inclusion at a training camp in Anaheim, California, where he was chosen as one of 12 athletes from a competitive pool of 28 demonstrates his extraordinary setter skills. From July 24 to August 1, 2025, the 6’6″ star from Menlo Park, California, will compete in Cuernavaca, China, with the goal of assisting the United States in defending their consecutive Pan Am Cup championships.
Chriss’s ascent to the national arena is a testament to his talent and commitment. He comes from Menlo Atherton High School, and his leadership and court vision have already caused a stir in the volleyball scene. After a rigorous training block from June 1–7, during which he impressed coaches, including head coach Jonah Carson, he was selected for the U19 team. Chriss and the U.S. squad will compete against Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Canada in Pool A in the 2025 Pan American Cup. The U.S. team is expected to do well because they won gold at the last two Pan Am Cups and the 2024 NORCECA Continental Championship. Before the squad leaves for Mexico, he will continue to hone his skills during his training in Orlando, Florida, on July 3–5.
